I think you know that this shows a spider...

I take this picture through the glass of the terrarium. And for this good quality i had to shoot a lot of pictures.

moin henne. ich glaub irgendwie pitbulllady hat recht. meine sieht auch so aus, ist ne grammostola rosea. würd auch tippen das dies ne grammostola art ist, welche, kA ;) trotzdem schickes fotto.

You sure that's an Avic? It looks like a Chilean Rosehair(Grammostola rosea)to me. All the Avic avics I've ever seen were shiny blue-black with a reddish abdomen and the characteristic pink "toes". I'm pretty sure that one is a Rosie in the pic. Still a nice pic; can't ever get tired of looking at tarantula pics!

The common name for this tarantula is "Chilean Rose-haired" tarantula, and the scientific name is Grammostola rosea. Many large tarantulas ARE called "bird-eating" spiders, or simply "bird spiders", because some DO get big enough to kill a small bird or a lizard or a mouse, but this species does not get that large. I have a relative, Grammostola aureostriata, which is big enough to kill and eat a fully-grown mouse, and I will post a picture of her later this evening.
